2010 | My Little Underground Level 57
On Level 57 of My Little Underground, I went back ten years to 2010 to discuss some of the great albums from that time to see how well they have aged in a decade! I noticed that there were a handful of popular black artists in 2010 that were doing some serious genre-bending. Artists like Kid Cudi, Janelle Monae & B.o.B were blending elements of indie-rock, soul, hip-hop and pop on their respective albums that shattered any stereotypes on how a black musician should sound like. Also The influence of artists such as My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Ride, The Jesus and Mary Chain & Cocteau Twins were in many underground and mainstream acts in the late 2000's and early 2010's. 2010 releases from bands such as Dum Dum Girls & A Sunny Day In Glasgow were part of a revival of the shoegaze sound.
