My Little Underground Level 61: 2005ish
On Level 61 of My Little Underground, I took a trip back 15 years to 2005 to discuss some great music from that year and how well said music has aged. Mariah Carey and Rihanna had probably the most ubiquitous songs of 2005 in "We Belong Together" and "Pon De Replay" respectively and Fiona Apple with one of the best album introductions that year with "Extraordinary Machine".
As a far as albums are concerned, Jeezy's debut album, 'Thug Motivation 101' was the genesis of the Atlanta trap sound that is still dominating hip hop today. The south definitely had something to say in 2005 as explained in the YouTube clip below:
